Netflix has confirmed their live-action Resident Evil series will not be getting a second season as the series has reportedly did not find a large enough audience.
Netflix’s Resident Evil premiered in July and focused on Albert Wesker – played by Lance Reddick – and his teenage daughters, Billie and Jade. The story split between two timelines focusing on the events in the new Umbrella Headquarters in South Africa, and a decade later when the world is overrun by zombies.
Despite promises of a long-term plans for the Resident Evil franchise at Netflix, the new series was critically panned by critics and fans alike, with many of them simply calling the series boring, and added to the list of disapointing Resident Evil live-action films including Sony Picture’s Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, which released in November.
On the video game side of Resident Evil, fans still have plenty to enjoy as a new story expansion for Resident Evil Village will be coming this October, and a remake of Resident Evil 4 is set to release early next year.
