While there is a live-action Mortal Kombat underway which is planned for a March 5th, 2021 release, we’ll be seeing another motion picture take on the bloody franchise by the end of June according to The Hollywood Reporter; this time in animated form.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge will be coming from Warner Bros. Animation and is being produced by Rick Morales and Jim Krieg, who both have experience with animated Batman movies. The movie will star Patrick Seitz, who will be reprising the role of Scorpion from Mortal Kombat X, as well as Joel McHale (Community) as Johnny Cage; Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter, The Evil Within) as Sonya Blade; Jordan Rodrigues as Lui Kang; Steve Blum as Sub-Zero and David B. Mitchell as Raiden.
Details about the movie are slim, although we can easily assume that it will be focused on Scorpion trying to get revenge for the death of his clan, however, it is uncertain on where in the Mortal Kombat timeline this will take place as the blame has shifted throughout a number of games. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about the animated movie.
