While Saban’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers has the honour of being one of the longest-running, kids action series in TV history, there has been a serious lack of Video Games based on the popular series. While some mediocre titles have been released here and there, it’s arguable that the best Power Rangers games came from the Super Nintendo as simple beat’em ups.
Luckily for us, Bandai Namco are looking to fix that with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle, a side-scrolling Beat’em Up that looks like it borrows more from Castle Crashers. The game will focus on the first 2 seasons of the show, enabling players to pick their favourite rangers and battle grotesque monsters and level up their abilities. From high-flying martial arts combos to giant battles in the Megazord, the game is definitely aiming at the Nostalgia factor.
The game was also announced at an opportune time, as the first trailer for the upcoming Live Action movie was released yesterday at New York Comic-Con. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle will be available on PS4 and Xbox One in January 2017.
