Sony’s original hack’n’slash adventure, MediEvil, is being resurrected for the PS4. President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment America, Shawn Layden, announced the remake last weekend at the Playstation Experience stating that the Original Playstation title will be fully remastered for the PS4.
“We think Sir Daniel needs one more resurrection and this is the time to do it,” Layden said. “Serendipitously, I’d already had this one baking in the oven and then I saw all the pressure and thought this was a great time to talk about it.”
Layden followed up with a teaser trailer for the MediEvil remaster, which boasted about the game’s visual overhaul and 4K support.
MediEvil was an original Playstation title that was developed by Sony’s Cambridge Studio and was released in 1998. The game featured a resurrected skeletal knight Sir Daniel Fortesque as he attempts to stop an evil sorcerer’s invasion and redeem himself. The game was considered a hit and saw a sequel in 2000, and a portable remake on PSP in 2005.
