Nexon has finally set a release date for the sequel to their massively popular Free-to-Play MMO Maple Story and announced a new game mode which will either excite you, leave you with curiosity as of how a cute game like Maple Story can pull this off, or roll your eyes at the fact that we’re getting yet another Battle Royale game.
That’s right, Maple Story 2 will be getting a Battle Royale mode called Mushking Royale. Mushking Royale pits you in an all out battle against 49 other players. Players are dropped into the battle with the same set of basic attacks and be able to discover new power-ups, skills and items by opening chests or defeating mushrooms.
Mushking Royale was playable during the second closed beta, however new features like the ability to play in squads with up to three other players will be added for the full release. Those who participated in the closed beta and was the top players will be awarded the Founder’s pack, which gives exclusive items and cosmetics.
Maple Story 2 will fully release on October 10th according to Nexon. The game is more of a spiritual sequel to the side-scrolling MMO, as the gameplay is drastically different. The sequel will remain free-to-play with cosmetic purchases.
