One of the most popular ways of playing Supermassive’s interactive Horror game Until Dawn was to have your party choose a character and play out their scenes, leading to some chaotic gameplay to those who didn’t know what to expect from the horror game.
That idea of a shared experience has inspired Supermassive Games to include a couch co-op and online multiplayer mode for their upcoming Dark Pictures Anthology, which starts this summer with Man of Medan. The studio has announced two specific modes, each offering a very different experience.
The first of which is Movie Night. In Movie Night, you and up to four friends will be able to play Man of Medan together and experience the same story. You’ll each be able to enter your names and decide which character(s) you’ll take charge of and the game will let you know when to pass the controller.
In Shared Story, Players can team up with a buddy online and play through the game simultaneously, giving you the ability to explore the ship and make choices that will affect the story and characters. The interesting part here is that you’ll be able to play scenes from different perspectives, encounter different information, locations and more.
This is going to be an interesting way to play the game for sure. What are your thoughts on Multiplayer in an Interactive Horror Story? Let us know in the comments. Man of Medan is the first of an 8 part series and will be out on August 30th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
