With the Superbowl this weekend, its time for everyone’s favourite pre-game pastime. Loading Madden with computer controlled teams and having the game predict who will win the big game this Sunday.
EA Sports Madden NFL 17 is predicting that the New England Patriots will defeat the Atlanta Falcons 27-24 at Superbowl 51. If the prediction is correct, this would make Patriots star Quarterback Tom Brady the first Quarterback to win 5 Superbowl rings.
The simulation is calling for a nail-biter of a game with the conclusion being New England receiver Julian Edelman hauling in the go-ahead touchdown on a 4th-and-4 pass with 20 seconds left. For those who don’t watch sports or know a lot about Football here is the gist of what I just wrote – guy threw ball, ball was caught in goal area, it’s all good.

The Madden series has had a decent track record of calling out the winner of the Superbowl in the past, picking the correct winner 9 out of 13 times so far. Most impressive of the picks came from NFL 15, where the game picked the exact score to Superbowl 49. However the game has also fumbled with NFL 16 where it picked the Carolina Panthers over the Denver Broncos in a 27-24 victory, when in real life, the Broncos trampled the Panthers with 24-10.
