It’s hard to believe that Pokemon Go is already at its one year anniversary, which means that Niantic, Inc. and the Pokemon Company International have some big plans for the successful AR creature catching game.
The biggest update to the title is obviously the introduction of Legendary Pokemon that will begin to infest local gyms via the new Raid Battle feature. Starting with the first Legendary who will appear at the Pokemon Go Fest Chicago at Grant Park on July 22. Trainers at the festival will get their first chance to successfully defeat the Legendary (who remains a secret at this time) in a special raid battle, if successful, that Pokemon will start appearing in Raids around the world after the Pokemon Go Fest.
This is one of many different in-game and real-world activities Niantic and the Pokemon Company have announced in celebration of the one year anniversary. Other events include a special European event called the Pokemon Go Safari Zone which will be active from August through September in partner ship with Unibail-Rodamco shopping centres. Then a special Pokemon Go experience will occur at Pikachu Outbreak in Yokohama, Japan in August.
We want to know, are you still playing Pokemon Go and if not will the Legendary’s pull you back? Let us know in the comments.
