Whether you like it or not, the Zombie-Survival spin-off of the Metal Gear series is still coming, however it will not be in 2017 like originally planned. Konami has officially pushed back Metal Gear Survive into an early 2018 release window for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Metal Gear Survive takes place in an alternate Metal Gear reality which takes place just after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, in which a group of soldiers must survive against zombie-like creatures by gathering gear and weapons. The game is promised to feature a robust single-player story mode and a co-operative multiplayer mode.
The game is departure from what Metal Gear fans expect from the series, however that usually isn’t a bad thing when in the right hands (see Metal Gear Rising), however this is the first Metal Gear game since Kojima departed from Konami. We’ll have to wait and see if fans will enjoy the new approach or if the lack of the Kojima touch to the game will affect it.
