In the Biggest announcement from Gamescom this week, Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear, Zone of the Enders creator) and Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim, Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy) announced in an unconventional way that they will be working together to create the next installment of the Silent Hill Franchise, titled Silent Hills.
The announcement came by a playable teaser found on the PS4, after playing the terrifying first person puzzle game, the game ends pulling the camera back to reveal Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro’s names, with Boondock Saints and The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus as the main character, following shortly by the title sequence.
Kojima has stated that he wants players to s**t their pants playing the title. When talking how developers limit the horror in their games because of the likely hood of players quitting on them, “That’s why there’s a limit on how scary you can make a game, but in this case we’re ignoring that. If you don’t want to keep playing through the game, so be it we don’t care,” he said. “That’s the game we’re aiming for. We’re aiming for a game that will make you s**t your pants.”
Currently no release date or available consoles has been announced, however it will be safe to say that the game will be on PS4 thanks to the P.T. Demo.
