Have you ever looked at a sword and though “That is a damn fine sword, I want to take it out on a date and maybe show it a good time.” We should totally talk because I was sure I was the only one.
Or you can just pick up Kitfox Games’ latest dungeon crawler/dating sim called Boyfriend Dungeon, a game where you can go out and rescue weapons who can turn into humans (or the other way around) and then fall in love with them to make them more powerful, provide new upgrades and various other effects.
At this time, players can choose from up to 6 weapons to rescue, romance and wield. Valaria the dagger, Isaac the epée, Steven the Lasersaber, Sawyer the Glaive, Sunder the Talwar and Pocket the Brass Knuckles – who is also a cat. While Pocket isn’t a romance partner, that would be weird, you’d still be able to form a close friendship.
Outside of the romance, players will be able to customize their avatar and bring them to a dungeon where they’ll be able to use their weapon/lovers to take down monsters. The game then goes to a isometric top-down view and becomes a dungeon crawling hack’n’slash.
The game has launched on Kickstarter on August 15th 2018, asking for CA$ 65,579. It was met within the day and at the time of writing has received CA$ 152,616. If you want to pick up your copy and help with the Stretch goals which includes a new character from the creator of Hatoful Boyfriend, then visit the game’s kickstarter page here.
