Marvel’s Iron Man is coming to Playstation VR sometime this year. Announced during Sony’s new “State of Play” Nintendo Direct like stream, the game is being handled by Camouflaj – who previously worked on the stealth adventure title Republique.
The trailer gave us some pretty interesting glimpse at what flying and combat would be like in the upcoming VR title, with players suiting up as Iron Man with in-flight combat. From what we see in the trailer, it seems that we’ll have some control over Iron Man’s flight as well as be able to use his blasters and some melee attacks to defend ourselves. The Unibeam was suggested within the game’s HUD but was not shown in use in the trailer.
Marvel gave a little idea of what we can expect from the story in their blog post, which mentions that we will see Stark “confronting ghosts from his past — powerful forces who seek to ruin him and everything he stands for [alongside] iconic allies and Super Villains as they jet around the globe on a heroic mission to save not only Stark Industries, but the world itself.”
Aside from a release window of 2019, no price was given for this game. Given Sony’s previous work with Marvel with Marvel’s Spider-Man, expectations are pretty high for this VR title, but we’ll have to wait and see how exactly this will play out.
