Insomniac Game’s PS4 exclusive Spider-Man game has finally received a release date. The game will be keeping true to its 2018 release window with a confirmed release date of September 7th 2018.
Little details about the game has been announced today aside from the release date, however we do know that the game will be featured in May’s GameInformer, so it is likely we can expect some additional information about the game there. We also got word on post-launch DLC, which will include new story missions, villains, and costumes.
Spider-Man will also receive 2 special editions, a digital deluxe edition ($80USD) which will feature free access to the game’s post-launch DLC and a Collectors edition ($150USD) (pictured below) which featuresĀ a steelbook case, a mini artbook, and a Spider-Man statue–which has only been partially revealed. On theĀ PlayStation Blog, Insomniac teases, “Pay extra special attention to the statue though and you’ll notice something is obviously missing. We haven’t revealed the entire statue for the Collector’s edition, just Spider-Man perched on top of something. What could that be? It’s too spoilery to show you now, but stay tuned!”
Insomniac’s Spider-Man is going to feature an original story not based on the comics or films and has been confirmed to feature Open-World gameplay. The game was originally announced back at E3 2016 and we’ve been hyped for it ever since. Insomniac Game’s is best known for their work on the original PS1 series of Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet and Clank, Fuse (one of the first titles we played on our Co-Op series) and the Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive.
