Announced at the Dengeki Bunko Spring Festival in Akihabara yesterday, the creators of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, Compile Heart, has announced their latest crossover title for the PS Vita titled Hyperdimension Neptunia vs Sega Hard Girls: Dream Fusion Special.
This cross-over may leave a lot of people scratching their heads, so let’s try to clear that up.
First of which, the Hypderdimension Neptunia series, which has seen a series of games as well as spin-offs come to North America, focuses on a world called Gameindustri; which is ruled by 4 goddess’ that are based around Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony and an unreleased Sega console. The game features some tongue-in-cheek jokes about the game industry, developers and popular games in whole.
Meanwhile, Sega Hard Girls is a relatively new IP, created in 2013 as a light novel under the Dengeki Bunko flag, and had an anime series released in 2014 (which you can watch over at Crunchyroll.) The series features anthropomorphic characters based off the Sega Consoles, who must enter Sega related games in order to graduate from Sehagaga Academy.
While it is easy to see how these two series could cross-over, Compile Heart did not give any release date or gameplay details, given the popularity of the Neptunia series in North America, it seems likely that we may see this one hit the Vita sometime after launch.
