Since the game’s release back in 2007, one of the PS3’s major launch titles Heavenly Sword has only been referenced in Sony Playstation All-Stars, and never heard from again. Now with Ratchet and Clank as well as Sly Cooper set for a theatrical release, it’s time the adventure of Nariko gets it’s own film treatment. Except in the way we hoped.
A CGI based movie from Blockade Entertainment will cover the events of the game and stars Fringe actress Anna Torv as heroine Nariko, Alfred Molina as King Bohan, and Thomas Jane as Loki. The movie is set for a straight to DVD, Bluray, and VOD Via the Playstation Network on September 2nd.
You can catch the trailer after the jump. On a more personal review of the trailer, I have to say that the movie is very underwhelming and doesn’t look like it’s going to live up to the awesomeness of the game or the CGI quality we come to expect from Movies or TV. That being said, we’ll preserve judgment for when the full movie comes out.
