For the community of fans of The Last of Us, September 26 is a big day, after all – this is the date in which the Cordyceps fungus hits critical mass. To honor the date, HBO and Sony has released the first trailer for The Last of Us series coming next year.
The series is created by Craig Mazin, the creator and writer behind HBO’s Chernobyl, and will follow a similar story to the game which will see Joel and Ellie – played by Game of Thrones stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, as they travel across the country dealing with the dangers of the new Cordyceps infected world.
The trailer showed off several familiar scenes from the game including a run in with a Clicker, the encounter with Bill (played by Nick Offerman,) and the attack in Pittsburgh.
HBO has confirmed that the first season will feature 10 episodes, but has not given any official announcement of a second season.
