Harmonix is gauging interest in a new Amplitude game via Kickstarter, asking the fans who have clamoured about a possible HD release to help fun the remake of the Playstation 2 era action rhythm game at the tune of $775K.
“Our aim with this Kickstarter is to be humble in our expectations. The current goal is to make a faithful Amplitude ‘HD’ – the core experience from PS2 re-developed for modern gaming devices,” the company notes on its Kickstarter page. “We certainly have LOTS of crazy ideas that could blow this concept out. Your contribution, feedback, and community input will decide where this project will land and how many crazy ideas we can incorporate!”
If the Kickstarter is successful, the game will be released on PS3 and PS4 (due to Sony owning the rights to the Amplitude name) with a possible Cross-Buy situation. The Code to purchase the game comes with a pledge of $20 dollars, currently the game has reached $176,600 of it’s hefty $775k goal with 14 days left in the funding. The game is currently stated for a March 2015 release.
