Despite only weeks away from E3, 343 Industries has fully announced Halo 5: Guardians will be coming to Xbox One in Fall of 2015. GM Bonnie Ross said the time will be use to ensure the team has “the scope, features, and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade” while making sure the next game has Dedicated servers for Multiplayer and runs at 60 Frames per Second.
Ross also wrote on Xbox Wire:
Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4, that applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.”
So while we’re waiting the year and a half for the next game, the general manager also stated that the journey “definitely begins in 2014 with a giant leap, rather than one small step,” which happens to lead us into the following rumour.
Engadget has reported that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be coming to Xbox One. The collection will consist of Halo 1 – 4 focusing on the main Halo story arc. While currently it has not been confirmed if the collection exists, or who will be handling the port to the Xbox One, however this would be a great way to catch people up with the Halo story while fans patiently wait for Guardians.
At any rate, we can expect more Halo new at E3 this year including more details on Guardians and the upcoming TV tie-in.
