Studio IGGYMOB and Prime Matter revealed a new trailer for Gungrave G.O.R.E., the next official chapter in the Gungrave franchise that was first announced in 2017. The new trailer (see below) was shown at Gamescom last week gave us a look Grave, the game’s gunslinging badass anti-hero as he crashes into “Scumland” in his coffin before turning some heads (literally) and blasting a gang of local thugs apart.
The Gungrave series started on the PS2, which featured character designs from Yasuhrio Nightow (Trigun) and mechanical designs KÅsuke Fujishima (Sakura Wars). Despite some mediocre reviews, the series was unique enough to earn a cult following that lead to a sequel in 2004 called Gungrave: Overdose and an anime adaption from Madhouse. The last game in the franchise was released in 2018 as an exclusive Playstation VR title, Gungrave VR.
Gungrave G.O.R.E. is described as the “ultimate resurrection” of the franchise according to the game’s press release, and will be a stylish, third-person action shooter. While the game is set to be the next outing for Grave, Studio IGGYMOB have stated that the game will be a “gloriously gory standalone experience.”
Gungrave G.O.R.E. is currently set to release in 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series X|S, as well as PC.
