The Toronto based Drinkbox Studios’ beloved indie Metroidvania brawler Guacamelee! is finally getting a sequel, and it set to release on August 21st 2018 on PS4 and PC.
Guacamelee! 2 brings back former hero Juan Aguacate out of retirement to stop a powerful and ruthless luchador who has emerged as the ruler of a parallel timeline. Donning on his special luchador mask and tights, Juan must fight his way through the worlds of the living and dead, as well as time and space, in an attempt to save his family.
Drinkbox Studios’ promises that the sequel will bring back everything we love about the series, including a colourful world inspired by Mexican folklore, 4 player local co-op, and plenty of Metroidvania inspired gameplay. We’re also getting a new upgrade system featuring powerful new moves, a new Chicken form and new music from Peter Chapman and Rom Di Prisco – composers of the original Guacamelee! soundtrack.
“We asked our inner skeletons what we should do for Guac 2,” said Augusto Quijano, Concept Lead at Drinkbox Studios. “We couldn’t decide whether to add Better Moves, More Interesting Platforming, Timeline Travel, Chicken Powers, or New Puns, so we added it all!”
Guacamelee! 2 is now available for Pre-Orders, be sure to check out the trailer above!
