“I’d like to announce today that we are developing GT6 for the holiday season this year on the PlayStation 3,” said Polyphony Digital and creator of Gran Turismo Kazunori Yamauchi yesterday after some leaks earlier this week. While that was enough to get PS3 Car Enthusiasts pumped, Toyota Europe communications team tweeted some more information on the series during reveal at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK stating “Gran Turismo is most successful [PlayStation] franchise ever – over 70 million copies sold to date, almost 50 percent in Europe”
After the announcement trailer was released to the public, a flood of new info has come in about the game. First of which is that we can expect to see a demo in July. The game itself will include over 1200 cars, 33 locations, and 71 layouts. That’s seven new locations in addition to those in Gran Turismo 5, and one of the new ones is the UK’s Silverstone circuit, where the announcement event took place.
We expect to see more from the series at E3 and Gamescom later this year.
