Here is the category you don’t want to win. As great of a year as 2018, we had some major disappointments, including the Microtransation filled – Kojima-less release of Metal Gear Survive, the lack luster PlayStation Classic, and the PR disasters of the Diablo Immortal announcement and Fallout 76. Here is our picks for the Most Disappointing announcement/release of 2018.
THE NOMINEES ARE:
Metal Gear Survive
Fallout 76
Sea of Thieves
PSClassic
Diablo Immortal announcement
THE WINNER IS:
FALLOUT 76
Fallout 76 isn’t a bad game in general despite problems with connection, loneliness and some other factors. The reason why it’s on our most Disappointing list is due to how much of a PR disaster it has been.
Let’s go through most of the situations that led it to this point. First off was the beta which had the unfortunate bug of removing itself from your PC, then there was some launch day bugs and connections which is nothing out of the ordinary for Bethesda and MMO’s on Launch day – however most of the updates seem to make the game worst with the latest one removing one of the biggest gameplay elements.
Then we have the collectors edition fiasco which saw the canvas bags replaced with flimsier vinyl bags, with Bethesda support offering 500 Atoms (a low amount in game currency) and stating that they would not be fixing the issue. After backlash, Bethesda finally confirmed they’d be correcting the issue and guided people to the support form, which due to another bug had people personal information leaked out.
We’re sure that eventually Fallout 76 will fix its problems and be just as good, if not better, than ESO, but we expected more out of Bethesda and that’s the PR disaster that is Fallout 76 wins our most disappointing game/announcement of the year.
