2017 was one of the best years for RPGs, with plenty to choose from it was hard to narrow it down to 5 games. After much discussion, here is our pick for best RPG of 2017.
NOMINEES:
Cyberdimension Neptunia – 4 Goddesses Online (IdeaFactory/Compile Heart)
Persona 5 (Atlus)
Battle Chasers Nightwar (Airship Syndicate)
South Park Fractured But Whole (Ubisoft)
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (XSEED/Falcom)
WINNER:
Persona 5
Atlus’ Persona 5 delivers on multiple levels, with a cool design, a great story (already winning best story of 2017) and a great turned-based combat system that updated the tried-tested-true of the previous entries in the series and adds the Shin Megami Tenshi’s ability to talk to monsters for possibly recruiting them to become Personas.
