It’s that time of year again, last week we gave you the list of Nominees and now, after some heated arguments, we have our winners.
A lot of people usually say that graphics don’t matter, but those people are liars because graphics and animation is the first thing that catches our attention when we’re first introduced to a game. Whether it’s photo-realistic, a throw back to classic gaming or animation, or even some special effect that wows us. Here is our picks for the games with the best graphics of 2017.
NOMINEES:
Horizon Zero Dawn (Guerrilla Games)
Forza 7 (Turn10)
Hellblade (Ninja Theory)
Cuphead (Studio MDHR)
Nier Automata (Platinum Games/Square Enix)
WINNER:
Cuphead (Studio MDHR)
Studio MDHR have done an amazing job copying and paying tribute to classic 1930’s animation. From intentially leaving in colour correction mistakes from classic Disney toons, to the game’s general design of the characters and how their bodies warp and twist as battles continue. In a world where we look for photo-realistic graphics to sell a game, Cuphead’s look a the past was a breath of fresh air.
