Microsoft and The Coalition have finally announced the release of Gears of War 4, removing the tentative “Fall 2016” window to an October 11th release. This is the first original Gears game since the property was moved from Epic Games to the Microsoft owned studio, The Coalition (formerly Black Tusk Studios) and will feature a new cast of characters lead by JD Fenix, son of Gears Hero Marcus Fenix.
If you’re dying to rev up those Lancers before the October release, you’ll get your chance to thanks to a Multiplayer beta. The Gears 4 beta will be available in “early access” on April 18 for everyone who played the Windows PC or Xbox One version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. Meanwhile, Xbox Gold Live subscribers will gain access the beta on April 25. The Beta will end on May 1st.
With the announcement of the Release date, Entertainment Weekly released the cover art for the upcoming cover-based sci-fi shooter (see above) which highlights a lot of destruction, new weapons and a glimpse of the new squad.
