The shooter genre had a great showing this year, with games like Borderlands 3 which shows a big improvement in the series, Metro Exodus which finally brought us out of the tunnels and gave us some free-range to explore a nuclear devastated Russia, we were pleasantly surprised with a Battle Royale that we actually liked with Apex Legends, and Call of Duty dished out the best game they’ve done in a long time for the series. Here are our picks for the best Shooter of 2019.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare
Borderlands 3
Metro Exodus
Apex Legends
The Outer Worlds
AND THE WINNER IS:
THE OUTER WORLDS (Obsidian Entertainment/Private Division)
When you have a hybrid game that mixes in with an RPG – you usually sacrifice some sort of element to make sure that both runs smoothly. Somehow, Obsidian found the perfect balance of great gunplay with smooth controls, fun weapons and unique weapons; with an RPG system that doesn’t felt natural and didn’t dumb itself down to compensate for those who were looking for an FPS adventure.
