It was hard to narrow down the best music of the year, with River City Girls Pop-Rock and Devil May Cry 5’s Devil Trigger being high on our most played tunes on Spotify competing Katana Zero’s amazing soundtrack, and Death Stranding’s entire discography helping to fill the world. Of course, it would also be a disservice to not talk about Cadence of Hyrule who remixed classic Legend of Zelda tunes to help bring the Crypt of the Necrodancer rhythm-based gameplay to the classic series. Here is our picks for best music of 2019:
Devil May Cry 5
Death Stranding
River City Girls
Cadence of Hyrule
Katana Zero
AND THE WINNER IS:
River City Girls (Wayforward/Arc System Works)
The minute you load up River City Girls, you’re given a pop-punk rock tune that sets the mood for some ass-kicking and the soundtrack doesn’t stop delivering amazing tunes. This is thanks to Composer “Chipzel” who did boss battle music and Megan McDuffee who did everything else including songs with full vocal tracks. In fact, it’s hard to find a single bad track from the soundtrack.
