As much as we hate to say it, 2016 was disappointing for the amount of scary games available, while the future looks bright with Resident Evil 7, Outlast 2, and we’re pretty sure Kojima’s Death Stranding is planned to be some sort of weird grotesque horror game. Still 2016 did deliver on some gems that made us uneasy and sleep with the light on.
AND THE NOMINEES ARE…
DEAD BY DAYLIGHT (Behaviour Interactive/Starbreeze)
THE PARK (Funcom)
EMILY WANTS TO PLAY (Shawn Hitchcock)
LAYERS OF FEAR (Bloober Team)
AND THE WINNER IS…
DEAD BY DAYLIGHT
Many games have tried to incorporate Multiplayer into a horror game, and many of them failed. Dead by Daylight by Behaviour Interactive is not one of those games. Somehow combining a multiplayer experience with a 4v1 mechanic which features 4 underpowered survivors versus 1 psycho killer was exactly the jolt that the Survival Horror Experience needed for the game to become a run-a-way hit.
