Music is an essential to the gaming experience, whether it places you in a specific time in history like Mafia 3’s classic rock soundtrack, to getting your blood pumping while taking on the armies of hell on Mars, or even serving as an reward or a major gameplay mechanic. 2016 had so many awesome tunes that it was difficult to list the 5 games that had the best music for the entire year!
Our Nominees:
DOOM (BETHESDA/ID)
MAFIA 3 (2K Games/Hanger 13)
HATSUNE MIKU PROJECT DIVA X (SEGA)
AMPLITUDE (HARMONIX)
REZ INFINITE (Enhanced Games)
THE WINNER IS:
DOOM
Doom’s hard rock soundtrack was exactly what we wanted from the shooter. From classic tunes remastered to songs that have images of 666 and Pentagrams when loaded into Spectral Frequency Display for the “CyberDemon” track. Doom is a heavy soundtrack for a heavy game and deserves to be in your playlist. In fact, you can now listen to the soundtrack on Spotify for ease of use!
