Despite what many would believe, Nintendo had a solid year with the 3DS and Wii U, with titles like Splatoon (which already won a few awards), Mario Maker, as well as some major 3rd party games including Monster Hunter and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Hopefully this a trend that will continue into the new year, especially with the NX to be announced in the near future.
AND THE NOMINEES ARE:
MARIO MAKER (NINTENDO)
YOSHI’S WOOLLY WORLD (NINTENDO)
XENOBLADE CHRONICLES X (MONOLITH)
SPLATOON (NINTENDO)
MONSTER HUNTER 4 ULTIMATE (CAPCOM)
AND THE WINNER IS:
SUPER MARIO MAKER (NINTENDO)
While there has been unofficial mods that allowed skilled programmers make levels for Super Mario World on the SNES, Super Mario Maker opens this concept up to absolutely everyone! Giving players the ability to chose from multiple generations of Mario games, download levels and use an extremely simple and easy to learn system to build your own dream level. It is a different type of Mario game that will keep you coming back for more.
