Some of the best stories we’ve seen in video games had happen this year, we’ve found there was more to fear then zombies in The Walking Dead, experienced the settings of Dishonored for the first time, and sat through a Call of Duty story that actually made sense. But our winner was one that really set the bar for Video Game story writing and in general improved the medium.
AND THE WINNER IS…
SPEC OPS: THE LINE
I have never felt bad about the stuff I have done in video games, but what Spec Ops: The Line does is play with your mind. The game pits you against American soldiers who have become renegades, however the game likes to remind you that the people you are killing are American soldiers that are sent to protect the people of Dubai, constantly throwing you into situations where there is a thin line of being good or evil. By far this is Video Game story telling at it’s best.
