We’re not done in the brutal Apocalyptic world of Frostpunk as developer 11bit studio has announced a sequel via a cinematic reveal trailer which highlights a very important new resource for the frozen land – Oil.
Taking place 30 years after the original Frostpunk, Frostpunk 2 will have players lead another society through the newly imposed ice age, only using oil instead of coal, and while continuing to squash any rebellions that question their rule.
If the trailer is any indication, Frostpunk 2 isn’t going to tone down the game’s brutality for hard choices to keep people warm and alive but will be much more ambitious this time around.
“We have more manpower available to focus on all aspects of the game from scale, the production value, to the quality of UX,” Frostpunk 2’s co-director Jakub Stokalski said. “Our ambition is to do more than a straight-up sequel. What we aim to deliver to players is an experience that goes vastly beyond that of the original Frostpunk.”
No release window has been given at this time but the game can be added to your wishlist on Steam. Frostpunk 2 is currently confirmed for GOG, The Epic Game Store, and Steam, but no confirmation on a console edition at this time.
