Sony is looking to finally release the promised Free PSPlus version of DriveClub. The PSPlus edition was supposed to launch along side the full release of the game back in October 2014, but with some content cut, due to the game’s rocky start with online issues, the PSPlus edition was delayed multiple times until it was announced today that it will be available on June 25th 2015 (Tomorrow!)
“We’ve spent a long time preparing for this launch after some difficult and unexpected set-backs,” said Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, of which DriveClub developer Evolution Studios is a subsidiary. “To make absolutely certain that all players have the smoothest and most stable experience possible we are going to be duly cautious about how we release the game this time around.”
The game will be available for all PSPlus users starting tomorrow, but will only feature the Offline version of the game for the time being, with Sony slowly activating the Online service for the game. This will be done in an effort to ensure that the servers will stay functional during this period.
“We know that this might be frustrating after your extra wait already, but hope you can understand that we are taking extra precautions to protect your experience when you do get online,” said Yoshida.
What do you think, are you excited to finally get the free version of the game? Should they have just released the full version as part of Next month’s Instant Game Collection? or is it too little too late for the franchise? Let us know in the comments!
