After a long period of time without any news and thinking the project was dead, Blumhouse Production founder Jason Blum has confirmed that the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie will begin filming in February 2023 with The Wind director, Emma Tammi, set to direct.
What is more befitting for the project is that Jim Henson’s Creature Shop – who has provided puppets, animatronics and visual effects for film and TV for decades from Sesame Street, to Teenage Ninja Turtles, to The Dark Crystal – will be providing the animatronics. Just this news alone is enough to get us excited for some creepy jump scares from Freddy Fazbear and the gang.
“Five Nights at Freddy’s is more consistently asked about than any other film I’ve ever worked on, and I’m thrilled to confirm it’s finally happening!” said Jason Blum in a statement. “With Emma Tammi at the helm, we’re committed to making Scott’s vision of the movie come to life. Rest assured, it will be and is worth the wait.”

The FNAF movie script is credited to series creator Scott Cawthon, Emma Tammi and Set Cuddeback, with Scott Cawthon and Jason Blum as producers. The movie doesn’t have a release date as of yet.
Blumhouse Productions was also in the news yesterday for more great movie news as they’re still set to produce the upcoming Spawn movie with Jamie Foxx set to play the titular character, and has got Scott Silver (The Joker) and Malcolm Spellman (Falcon and the Winter Soldier) to write the screenplay.
