The first episode of Cartoon Network’s new Mega Man cartoon, called Mega Man: Fully Charged, is set to premiere on August 5th. The project was announced last year at an attempt to make a new take on the Mega Man franchise for an younger audience and is being written by the team behind Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Ben 10.
Despite being announced last year, the show was said to be delayed until 2018 with Dentsu Entertainment and DHX Media stating that the 26-episode show had been retooled, however they did not say how or why. The last we heard of the project was a small synopsis in 2017, which judging by the small preview shown at SDCC last weekend, it seemed much of the show still remained the same.
“The new animated Mega Man series focuses on a normal, upbeat schoolboy robot, who discovers that deep within his programming lies secret protocols that can transform him into the powerful Mega Man. And, as the world’s first robotic super-hero, Mega Man must face the threats of Silicon City, while trying to preserve his secret identity and maintain a regular robot boy life.”
Those looking for a more traditional Mega Man will be able to pick up The Mega Man X Legacy Collection this week, or wait till October 2nd for a new adventure in Mega Man 11.
