Square Enix and the Final Fantasy 14 development team has announced the latest expansion to the popular MMO set to release sometime in fall 2021, called Endwalker, which will bring players to the Moon.
According to the developers, Endwalker will close out the Hydaelyn saga, with no extended story in later patches, with Final Fantasy 14 producer Naoki Yoshida noting that patch 6.1 will start a completely new story. We will also see two new job sets being available, one a healer class called Sage, and the other job being a melee DPS class which is currently not named.
The level cap will also be raised 10 levels, from 80 to 90, and players will be able to purchase housing in Ishgard now that the Ishgard restoration project has completed. This area will open with the release of Endwalker but will not be able to be purchased until patch 6.1. Finally, there will also be an “Island Sanctuary” where players can enjoy some “slow living” as teased by a character on a farm with minions and animals around them.
The final patch of the Shadowbringer expansion – patch 5.5 – will be released on April 13, 2021, which will also start the Open beta for Final Fantasy 14 on PlayStation 5 – which will have improved visuals, faster loading times, and up to 4K resolution. No word on the full release on the PS5 version at this time.
