Back in 2013, a group of fans were developing a fighting game based on My Little Pony called My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic. While the fighter looked great and gathered some excitement from fans, Hasbro released a Cease and Desist due to company being worried about the violent nature of fighting games in a family friendly show. Shortly after the order was announced, show creator Lauren Faust stepped up to help the team develop a new game.
And that game has hit IndieGoGo yesterday looking for funding.
The new game from Mane6 now titled “Thems Fightin Herd”, and will be a 2D fighter featuring adorable farm animals who are not ponies beating each other up in order to become the “Key Keeper” who will keep the deadly predators from re-entering the land of Fœnum. The campaign page showed off several of the game’s cast, and a video of Lauren Faust explaining the Lore of the game, which is actually pretty deep for a cartoonish fighter.
The campaign is looking to raise $436,000 USD. At the time of this writing, they have raised $92,289USD, with only 30 days left. You can check out the gameplay demonstrations, as well as help fund the game at the campaign site.
