With Fallout 76’s beta is getting closer, Bethesda has given some additional information about the invite-only trial, which includes how PC Players will be able to join in the fun.
According to Bethesda’s F.A.Q. “The B.E.T.A. and the game will be available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and on PC (via Bethesda.net)”. Surprisingly this marks the game being shifted from Valve’s popular Steam platform to make use of Bethesda’s own digital platform.
At this time, it doesn’t mean that we’re not going to see Fallout 76 on Steam in the future, as their Vault Building Sim Fallout Shelter didn’t come to Steam a year after it initially launched on Bethesda.net. Still this is another blow to the Steam Marketplace as another major developer limits their games and features to their own launchers, like Destiny 2 and the upcoming Call of Duty Black Ops 4 being exclusive to Battle.net, or Fortnite with the Epic Games Launcher.
The F.A.Q. does go into some further details advising that the B.E.T.A. will be the full game and all progress during the beta will carry over to the full game when it launches on November 14th 2018. Hopefully the one month prior to the beta is enough time for the Fallout team to fix any bugs.
