Electronic Arts has confirmed several of their older, less-played titles will be taken offline by the end of the year. The list includes 12 games between September 7th, 2023 and December 8th, 2023, which includes several games that are still available on Xbox via Backwards Compatibility.
While most of the titles have a focus on PS3 and Xbox 360 titles including Battlefield Bad Company series, Crysis 3, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, Dead Space 2 and Dante’s Inferno. However, FIFA 18-21 is also included on this list and are available on most modern consoles.
EA has said the decision to “retire” older games is never easy, but is necessary so that time and resources can be dedicated to newer, more actively played titles. “As games are replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the games that have been live for some time dwindles to a level–typically fewer than 1% of all peak online players across all EA titles–where it’s no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping the online services for these games up and running,” EA said.
