E3 2013 has kicked into high gear and Microsoft already has a strong showing to make up for all of the bad information they’ve been giving. Here is a quick recap of the games and information that is given during the conference.
At the beginning of the show we were treated to new gameplay for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and the new features that are being introduced to the next iteration. First of which we are getting a new Open world style traversing with various different modes of transportation including horses, cars and tanks, also it was shown off that the game will have realistic weather effects, a new dynamic CQC fighting mechanic and a realistic passage of time. Of course Kiefer Sutherland voice over for Snake, this time called Punished Snake, and a cast of various other characters in the gameplay trailer.
Shortly after the trailer a New Xbox 360 design to look like the new Xbox One and it is available now. Along with the announcement is a Playstation Plus style setup where Xbox 360 Gold users will receive 2 free games every month starting July 1st, the first two games announced for this is Halo 3 and Assassins Creed 2, this will be continued to the Xbox One as well.
Wargaming’s popular online Free-to-play game World of Tanks will be coming over to the 360 and will continue to be Free to Play for gold members . As Microsoft wanted to remind everyone that the Xbox 360 still have a bit of life left in it, the reminded us that Dark Souls 2 and a new sequel to Max and the Magic Marker called Max and the Cursed Brotherhood will also be on it’s way to the console.
From this point on we got on track to non stop Xbox One Exclusives. Starting with Crytek Ryse, a third person brawler set in ancient Rome. Showing some gameplay on the title, the game shows some brutal kills and combat, with squad control to help combat against barbarians, however the game is full of Quick Time Events. This is an exclusive title.
Then finally the bombshell dropped, as Killer Instinct was announced showing off Jago, Glacius, and Saberwolf in full 3D glory. They with some gameplay showing off an online match during a segment where they showed DVR and Twitch usage. Ultra combos have made a return into the game and it looks as fast pace as ever.
A new stylized action shooter called Sunset Overdrive was announced as an Xbox One exclusive from Insomniac games (makers of Fuse and Ratchet and Clank.) A trailer was shown with a man running through a city while mutated creatures were attacking him with very interesting items as a weapons including the standard shotgun and baseball bat to a gun that shoots Vinyl Records and a power up shotgun that runs on energy drinks.
Forza Motorsport 5 will be an Xbox One Exclusive and will include a “drive-atar” cloud based feature, which is personal profile that races while players are away, accruing points for players that aren’t actually playing the game at the time. It learns your basic play style like how you cut corners and how aggressive you drive, then use that data to control your car.
Minecraft will be coming over to the Xbox One with bigger maps and more multiplayer, we’ll have more on this as info comes in.
Deadly Premonition developer SWERY will be making an Xbox one Exclusive episodic murder mystery game called D4. Not much information was talked about on the game however we will update with the trailer when it is available.
Capcom Vancouver stopped by for an announcement with Dead Rising 3. The game is now going to be in a open world setting taking over an entire city and with a new protagonist. Nick Ramos will be able to grab any item in the world to take down zombies and be able to combine them on the fly. The game will feature Kinect voice over support and smartglass support as well.

The final announcement was from EA and Respawn Entertainment with the announcement of TitanFall, a new first person shooter featuring Mechs, jetpacks and crazy multiplayer. They showed off a capture type gameplay involving wall running, explosive weapons and of course, Giant Mechs. Titan Fall will be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC in Spring 2014.
At the end of the conference, it was stated that the Xbox One will be priced at $499 and come out this holiday. In general, we thought it was a good show, Microsoft showed a strong amount of content to back up it’s system, however we’re not convince it’s completely worth it to put up with the Online connectivity issues, licencing issues and used game lock that the system has. We’ll be looking at the Sony conference as well as EA and Ubisoft later though E3.
