Next year’s Dungeons and Dragons movie looks much better than the original 2000 film, thanks to a number of amazing looking D&D monsters and locals, but also an interesting group of “heroes” lead by Chris Pine’s Bard character.
While we’re excited to see the rag-tag group set things right, one character definitely grabbed the attention of fans, the Tiefling Druid Doric, played by IT star Sophia Lillis, where she used wildshift into an Owlbear – something that is technically not allowed in the game, but looks cool as hell anyways.
Doric will be the focus of two prequel novels coming from Penguin Random House. The first novel, the Druid’s Call, will be penned by E.K. Johnston, and will explore Doric’s early days as she discovers her powers. The second novel, The Road to Neverwinter, will be penned by Jaleigh Johnson, however, while we don’t have much news on this title, we can assume we’ll be seeing the famed Jewel of the North where some of the upcoming movie is said to be taking place.
The Druid’s Call and The Road to Neverwinter will be released just before the film in February 2023. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is set to release in theatres on March 3rd, 2023.
