The biggest disappointment of E3 was the lack of Dragon Age: Inquisition information. Yes the game looks great, but we want to see more, how does it play, what characters are we going to encounter (new and old), and whether we finally live our dream of riding a Mabari into battle. Thanks to a rather lengthy Q&A on Raptr hosted by the development team, we now know a bit more information.
Before getting into the the big changes and what to expect from the game, there are a couple of things that we missed, including the introduction of Dorian, Dragon Age’s first fully 100% gay character who is a mage from the Tevinter. Dragon Age: Inquisition writer David Gaider explained his role both a pariah and a partial idealist. “Without spoiling the plot, I’ll say that Dorian got wind of something that his fellow Tevinter mages were doing, and decided to intervene. As he sees it, someone from Tevinter needs to stand up and say, ‘We don’t agree with what these people are doing. They don’t represent all of us.'”
The second introduced character is a returning character from Dragon Age Origins (also a brief cameo in Dragon Age 2) Leliana. For those who don’t remember her, she was an Orlesian bard-turned-assassin who helped the Grey Wardens, she even got her own Story based DLC for DA:O. However in Dragon Age: Inquisition, it turns out she is not the happy-go-lucky character she was in the first game, as the game profile has the following to say about Leliana.
“She has many names. Most know her as ‘Sister Nightingale’ or ‘the Left Hand of the Divine.’ To the rare friend, she is Leliana,” it reads. “Those who have earned her loyalty know her as a steadfast ally. But enemies of the Divine know to fear her, for she is the shadow behind the Sunburst Throne-the one who watches and waits, who strikes when her mark is most vulnerable and least suspecting.”
Finally we have the big info, what is different and what is the same in the game. While you can see the full list from games.on.net who covers the big changes in bullet form, some of the big info results in a very deep Character Customization including customization Qunari horns, a deep character relationship tree, Character class can only have one specializations, and No Mabari allies. Also of note is 8 romancable characters, with some having race and gender restriction.
With all that info, fans will have plenty to do in Dragon Age: Inquisition, to drive the point home though, an E3 demonstration video has been released to show the game in action, you can see the video after the jump.
