Blizzard has been teasing Doomfist since the first Overwatch trailer, in which his gauntlet was a point of interest for Talon operatives Reaper and Widowmaker. After many teases and red herrings, Blizzard announced today that Doomfist will be coming to Overwatch in the next character update, and is currently playable on the Public Test Regions.
Doomfist (who by the way, is not played by Terry Crews) is an speed-focused character who can deal damage at a distance with his “Hand Cannon” and use a Rocket Punch for close range strikes. Other powers include Seismic Slam, Rising Uppercut, a shield called the Best Defense, and his ultimate ability – Meteor Strike, which allows him to take out a group of opponents in one strike.
Of course a big reveal like Doomfist needs a big announcement and Blizzard delivered on that with a new character trailer that is… just so f##king amazing that I’m pissed that we don’t have an Overwatch Anime yet. Activision/Blizzard Movie Production studio should get on that. You can check out that video above.
No word on when we’ll see this villain join the playable characters in Overwatch outside of the PTR as of yet.
