After receiving a small delay, id Software’s follow up to 2016’s Doom is finally set to release in March, and to get the hype train back rolling a new trailer has been released showing us just how bad things have gotten since our trip to Mars 4 years ago.
The trailer shows off everything we loved about the original – more demons, guns and brutal glory kills – while setting up the story that is similar to the original Doom II’s concept of ‘hell on earth’ but now we have what looks to be an angelic force pulling the strings with the an ominous voice advising that there are those who would try to stop the Doom Slayer. We also get a look at the Crucible being used as a badass laser sword.
What the trailer didn’t show was any multiplayer which Bethesda and id Software still say is a big part of Doom Eternal, especially with the announced BattleMode which sets two players as demons working together to fight one Slayer in what sounds like an interesting mix of a strategy and shooter genre.
Doom Eternal is set to release on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia on March 30th, 2020. A Switch port is also in the works but will be coming at a later time.
