It should be a simple rule in life, don’t be a dick!
Tripwire Interactive’s recent release of Killing Floor 2 has been getting some attention thanks to a line in their EULA stating under the Cheats, Cheating and Abusive Behaviours that many forms of Cyberbullying can get you banned from the game, as well as have your CD Key revoked.
According to the studio, this has been in their EULA agreement for some time (you know that thing you don’t read and just agree to so that your install can start.) Although to actually receive this kind of punishment you have to be a huge problem.
“I think we’ve done this only once or twice,” Alan Wilson, Tripwire vice president, said in an interview with Polygon. “Someone found an exploit that had crashed the servers in Red Orchestra[Ostfront 41-45], and I think we banned them, something stupid, like 20 times before [taking final action.]”
This doesn’t mean that Tripwire will be completely monitoring everyone’s behaviours in the game nor is this a political statement as the team “just want people to have fun playing our games without garbage going on around them.”
“If someone is being a complete dick on a server, our view is ‘Please deal with this amongst yourselves, it’s none of our business,'” Wilson said. “It’s when it gets beyond the capability of those who are managing the servers, and the gamers, and the clans.”
So there you have it friends, respect people, don’t be a dick and we can keep shooting waves of zombies creating a huge bloody mess together.
