According to actor John C. Reilly (Guardians of the Galaxy, Step Brothers) in an interview with Irish radio show RTE Arena, Disney is moving forward with a sequel to their video game themed animated movie Wreck-it Ralph, in which Reilly plays the titular character.
The news may be a bit premature as The Wrap has noted that the movie hasn’t officially been greenlit. However with Reilly signed on to return and the original movie earning close to $50 Million dollars in it’s opening weeks, and grossing $470 million at the global box office, it is safe to say that Disney will move forward with an official sequel announcement soon.
It will be interesting to see how a sequel will work out, and which gaming icons will be portrayed in the film this time around. The original movie saw several gaming characters such as Street Fighter’s Zangief, M Bison, Ryu and Ken, as well as Mortal Kombat’s Kano, Pac-man, Sonic the Hedgehog, Bowser, Q-bert, among others.
