Like with last year’s Call of Duty Ghosts, if you are looking into picking up the Kevin Spacey/ExoSuit powered Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare but are still playing on the PS3 or Xbox 360, you might need some incentive for picking the game up digitally. Activision and Sledgehammer games have announced today that people who purchase the game digitally on last-gen consoles will be able to upgrade for Free to the current-gen.
So there are some drawbacks, first of which the pre-order has to be within the same console family, second the pre-ordering the game on the Xbox One will not carry the game over to the Xbox 360, yet the PS4 and PS3 version will be part of Sony’s Cross-Buy allowing it to be played on both consoles. Unlike last year with Call of Duty Ghosts, which included a code with the PS3/360 for a upgrade to next-gen for $5 extra dollars, this feature will not be included with the Physical copies.
Further details have been listed at Activision’s FAQ, including more info about the Season Pass and how the DLC will work on both generations. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be available on November 4th, however some locations are offering a Day Zero Edition for pre-ordering the game which will allow you to get the game a day earlier.
