Crytek’s sequel to the 2011 shooter, Homefront, has been announced for a 2015 release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC release. The game will be co-published by Crytek and Deep Silver.
Taking place 4 years after the occupation of the United States by Korea, Homefront: the Revolution, will follow a new set of characters as they fight for control of Philadelphia. The Revolution promises a few new features to the series including recruiting resistant fighters, and using Guerrilla Warfare tactics to terrorize KPA forces in an open-world Philadelphia in a Single player or online Co-op campaign.
The original Homefront game was developed by Kaos Studios and published by THQ, it received mixed reviews but was praised for it’s concept. Crytek was already hard at work on the sequel when THQ went bankrupt. When the licensing property was up for grabs, Crytek purchased the IP for $500,000.
