Now that the PlayStation 5 version of the hit RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 has come out, Developer Larian Studios has confirm that Cross-Play between consoles and PC is currently in the works.
Larian’s Director of publishing, Michael Douse, told Eurogamer that the game always intended to have Cross-Play. “It was always in the planning, but we knew it wouldn’t be for launch. It’s in the roadmap, and though we have an idea of when we’d like to get it ready for, we don’t want to put a date on it until we’re sure.”
For now, players can only play multiplayer with players on the same platform. Both the PC and PS5 version also includes Split-screen local co-op and cross-saves, so it would be expectant that the Xbox Series X version of the game will also see these features. It has been confirmed however that the Xbox Series S version will be removing this feature so it can be released on the platform, but might see it get implemented post-launch.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has seen a few other updates as well that added more content to Karlach – the team’s Tiefling Barbarian – and a series of fixes including one to a bug that made the game’s companions a little too horny.
