Now that Resident Evil 2 Remake has been released and blowing everyone’s mind, a new request from fans of Capcom’s Zombie horror game, a new Onimusha a remake in the same style for Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
It’s a request that seems reasonable, afterall Resident Evil 3 was originally set to be a spin-off title for starring Jill Valentine in the same city as Leon and Claire until series creator Shinji Mikami suggested otherwise. With arguably the scariest B.O.W. in the series and considering how close fans tie the two games together, it seems like a winning combination to remake RE3:Nemesis, right?
It appears Capcom is thinking the same thing, as an interview with the Japanese website GameWatch, Resident Evil 2 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi was asked about the possibility of RE3 getting the remake treatment now that its predecessor had been released. Hirabayashi explained that Capcom only did RE2 because of fan demand, so they need fans to request a remake of Resident Evil 3.
There is no doubt that the fan support for an impressive remake like Resident Evil 2 is there, as the remake has hit number 1 in the UK and Capcom has confirmed that they have shipped over 3 million units, well in line of their 6 million projection, while holding a 91 metacritic score. We’re sure that there are plenty of fans who want to see Nemesis in the full glory of the RE7 Engine that it may just be matter of time until we hear news about a potential remake.
Or possibly we can generate hype for a new Onimusha in the RE7 Engine? A guy can dream.
